Luiz Inácio Gaiger
Luiz Inácio Gaiger has been full professor at the Post-Graduation Program in Social Sciences at the Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (Unisinos), São Leopoldo, Brazil (1988-2024) and scholarship holder of the Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Tecnológico (CNPq, Brazil - 2000-2024).
Biography
He holds a M. Sc. and a Ph. D. in Sociology from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium (1986 and 1991). Since 2000, he is a Researcher for the Brazilian National Research Council (CNPq). He has an academic experience and research interest on citizen participation, social movements, solidarity economy and social entrepreneurship. He coordinates, with Prof. José Luis Coraggio (UNGS/Argentina), the Latin American Network of Researchers on Social and Solidarity Economy (RILESS), and is co-director of the Otra Economía Journal. Some of his recent publications are Dicionário Internacional da Outra Economia (edited with Antonio CATTANI, Jean-Louis LAVILLE and Pedro HESPANHA, 2009, Coimbra: Almedina) and A Economia Solidária no Brasil: uma análise de dados nacionais (edited in collaboration with the Ecosol Research Group, 2014, São Leopoldo: Oikos).
