Sergio España-Cubillo
Assistant professor in Utrecht University (the Netherlands), teaching in the Information Science bachelor and the Master in Business Informatics. PhD in Computer Science from Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain). Author of over 100 scientific publications on software for sustainability, impact measurement, ESG accounting, requirements engineering, and conceptual modelling. His research line on Software for Organisational Responsibility focuses on the software-supported continuous improvement cycle of organisations that aim at increasing their performance in environmental, social and governance topics. Member of the Spanish Network of Alternative and Solidarity Economy (REAS), of the Economy for the Common Good (ECG, Utrecht local charter), and occasional collaborator of other networks of responsible enterprises. Member of the of the Advisory Committee on Social Balance of the Catalan Network of Solidarity Economy (XES). Member of the Supervisory Board of the foundation Refugee Wellbeing and Integration Initiative.
Biography
He is an assistant professor in the Department of Information and Computing Sciences, Utrecht University, the Netherlands. He teaches in the Bachelor in Information Science (Informatiekunde) and in the Master in Business Informatics. He is a member of the Software Production research group. He leads the Software for Organisational Responsibility research line, focused on the software-supported continuous improvement cycle of enterprises that aim at increasing their performance in environmental, social and governance topics. He has co-designed the openESEA impact measurement framework, which has recently merged projects with Show your Heart, an open-source tool used by the members of networks of social and solidarity economy organisations. Other competences are data science, information systems analysis, model-driven development, conceptual modelling, requirements engineering (RE), business process modelling, human-computer interaction, and empirical software engineering. He is co-author of Communication Analysis, an information systems RE method that can be applied stand-alone or within a model-driven development framework. He received a PhD degree in Computer Science (2011) from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV, Spain), where he formerly led the research group on Organisational Modelling and Requirements Engineering of the PROS Research Centre. He has participated in international applied-research projects (e.g. ITEA2 UsiXML, FP7 CaaS). He has taught BSc. and MSc. courses in several universities around the world (Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Paraguay, Colombia), as well as industry-oriented workshops. He has published over 100 papers in relevant impact measurement, RE and conceptual modelling conferences (e.g. RE, ER, CAiSE, INTERACT, RCIS, ICT4S) and journals (Software Qual J, Inform Syst, J Univers Comput Sci, Informatik-Spektrum, BISE, Inform Software Tech, CSIMQ). Programme committee (PC) chair of RCIS 2016, PoEM 2015, CLEI Software Engineering Symposium 2014 and 2013, among others, and PC member of many international conferences and workshops (e.g. CAiSE, REFSQ, ER, RCIS, ICT4S, SEIS@ICSE, HWID, ONTOSE, VORTE). He is member of the Advisory Board of the foundation Refugee Wellbeing and Integration Initiative. He is an individual member of the Spanish Network of Networks of Alternative and Solidarity Economy (Red de Redes de Economía Alternativa y Solidaria – REAS), member of the Advisory Committee on Social Balance of the Catalan Network of Solidarity Economy (Xarxa d’Economia Solidària – XES), member of the Dutch working group of the Economy for the Common Good, and occasional collaborator of other networks of responsible enterprises.
