Biography

Maria Anastasiadis, Assoc. Prof. Mag. Dr. is engaged at the Institute for Educational Science at the University of Graz, Austria, where she has received the venia docendi in the subject area of social pedagogy in 2017. Previously, Maria was an Assistant Professor at the University of Graz and a Senior Researcher at the Socioeconomic Research Centre in Vienna. She conducted her PhD studies at the University of Graz and at the Freie Universität Berlin. Maria ´s research focuses on social organisations. In particular she investigates structures and cultures of various social organisations and their contribution to participation and social innovation. Further topics are processes of change in the welfare state and in the working society, as well as the role of social work in the interdisciplinary context of sustainable development. She carried out and coordinated several research and knowledge transfer projects in these fields. Empirically she uses qualitative, quantitative and audio-visual methods of social research. Further she has dedicated herself to the advancement of participatory research approaches. She has published monographs and collected editions as well as several contributions to international conferences, editions and peer reviewed journals. Further she is involved in national and international networks, gives lectures at several institutions of higher education and conducts contract and feasibility research.
